Freedom and Justice Party Statement on Republican Guard HQ Massacre of Peaceful Protesters
FJP strongly condemns the massacre of unarmed demonstrators outside the presidential guard compound in Cairo where the illegitimate coup regime’s police and army killed and injured hundreds.
Monday, July 8,2013 18:13

"Do not ever think that those who are slain in God's cause are dead; for in fact they are alive with their Lord, receiving sustenance." [Quran 3:169]

The Egyptian people and the whole world were deeply shocked and dismayed today (Monday, July 8) as they heard eyewitness accounts of live bullets killing and injuring thousands of peaceful protesters in front of the Republican Guard Club while performing dawn prayers, in a gruesome and traitorous massacre in every sense of the word.

The number of martyrs killed in this massacre by army and police forces has exceeded 73 and is rising as a result of serious injuries among the wounded who number over a thousand, most of whom are in a critical condition, especially since ambulances present on the scene could not transfer the martyrs and the injured fast enough. Local residents and surviving demonstrators transferred some of those to the field hospital in their own private cars and even on bikes and motorcycles.

The merciless massacre of innocent citizens committed by these criminals against the peaceful protestors, who reject the military coup and demand reinstatement of their elected President Mohamed Morsi, is unprecedented in the history of the Egyptian army.

Hopefully, there are wise leaders within the military who will prevent repeats of those irrational traitorous incidents alien to the Egyptian army.

The Freedom and Justice Party (FJP) affirms that the precious blood of martyrs will only increase its determination and resolve. This blood will be a deserved curse on the criminal coup regime and all those who assist, sit with or support it.

The FJP calls on the great Egyptian people to a peaceful uprising against those who want to steal their Revolution with tanks and armored vehicles, even over the dead bodies of the people.

It calls on the international community and international organizations and bodies as well as all the free world to intervene to stop further massacres and reveal the truth about military rule so we should not have another Syria catastrophe in the Arab world.
